Account deletion
Effective 22 July 2026. This public page explains how I Witness Australia users can request deletion of their account and associated data.
How to request account deletion
If you can access your I Witness Australia account, open the app and go to Profile settings, then choose Delete your account. You may be asked to confirm your password and submit a final confirmation so we can verify that the request is genuine.
If you cannot access your account, email joshua.tame@tame-dynamics.com from the email address attached to your I Witness Australia account and include the words "Account deletion request" in the subject line. Do not send your password or full payment-card details.
What the request covers
A deletion request covers your account details, contact information, device records, push-notification tokens, location records, watch zones, notification preferences, saved alerts, family links, child-account links, chat memberships, reports or community safety observations, media, policy acceptances, support records and subscription identifiers, subject to lawful retention exceptions.
Where complete deletion would affect safety records, audit trails, billing records, moderation records, fraud prevention, child safety, other users' records or legal obligations, information may be anonymised, de-identified, restricted or retained for the minimum period reasonably required.
Subscriptions and billing
Deleting an I Witness Australia account does not automatically cancel every external subscription if the subscription is managed by a third-party store or payment provider.
If you subscribed through Google Play, manage cancellation in your Google Play subscriptions. If you subscribed through Apple, manage cancellation in your Apple subscriptions. If you subscribed through the web/PWA using Stripe, use the in-app billing portal or contact support for help.
Timing and confirmation
We may need to verify your identity before processing a deletion request. Some requests may be scheduled rather than executed immediately so that safety, billing, moderation, legal-hold or backup obligations can be handled correctly.
Once processing is complete, your account access may be disabled and retained records may be anonymised or restricted where required.
Emergency and safety note
I Witness Australia is not an emergency service or official police-reporting channel. If anyone is in immediate danger, call Triple Zero (000).
